Sweet Defeat Co-Founder Arianne Perry on How to Fight Sugar Cravings

Even if you are not following a strict diet, odds are that someone close to you is. Unfortunately, most diets do not welcome much indulgence, making it difficult to enjoy something sweet. While a little indulgence is not a long-term problem, everyday consumption of sweets can combat any progress one has made to get healthy and fit.

Fortunately, Sweet Defeat provides an interesting alternative. A mint-flavored lozenge that is clinically proven to suppress sugar cravings within seconds, Sweet Defeat is made from natural ingredients. Its active ingredient, gymnema, works by binding to sweet taste receptors on your tongue. Ultimately, Sweet Defeat proves to be an effective and convenient remedy for those seeking to end (or limit) their sugar cravings, allowing for healthier food choices.

I spoke with Sweet Defeat co-founder Arianne Perry–a wellness entrepreneur and an elite athlete–about Sweet Defeat and plenty more. More information about Sweet Defeat is online at www.sweetdefeat.com.

Where did the Sweet Defeat concept come from? Do you yourself have a sweet tooth?

As a former elite athlete and Olympics trials qualifier, I have always put health and fitness front and center my entire life. I’ve studied and tested a wide array of nutrition programs and exercise routines, but the best by far is a low-sugar lifestyle. Despite my success, I was still battling my sweet tooth! After tons of research and not being able to find a natural and effective solution for cravings, I set out on a journey to create a product that would help stop sugar cravings for everyone and launched Sweet Defeat!

When it comes to cravings, do you believe in the idea of having cheat days?

I don’t believe in cheat days, but I do believe in celebratory treats–in moderation!

What sort of diet, if any, do you follow? Or do you have a way of eating right?

I live a low-sugar lifestyle. I never restrict myself from sugar entirely because I believe that diets that prohibit one food or another are NOT sustainable or fun. My philosophy is portion control, not limiting yourself entirely, and being happy with your choices! My diet consists of as many veggies and leafy greens as possible, lean proteins like chicken and fish, and healthy fats like nuts and avocado. I drink in moderation and treat myself to sweets every now and then.

What specifically is Sweet Defeat made from?

Sweet Defeat is made from only plant-based, natural ingredients: gymnema, zinc, sorbitol, mint, and spirulina.

Is there a limit to how often someone can consume Sweet Defeat?

Our lozenges contain a small amount of zinc, therefore adults must limit use to 40 lozenges per day. But you’d never need that many!

Have you always been interested in health and nutrition? Or did something inspire you to get interested in it?

Yes! As a former elite athlete, I’ve tried every nutrition philosophy out there and studied nutrition for performance. The knowledge that I acquired naturally led me to become a coach to my friends and family. Living a healthy lifestyle has always been extremely important to me. That’s what inspired me to launch Sweet Defeat. I wanted to help people.

Sweet Defeat aside, do you have a favorite restaurant in New York?

Foragers; they have the freshest produce and an amazing seasonal menu developed from local ingredients.

When not busy with work, how do you like to spend your free time?

I always tell people that my life as an entrepreneur and cravings coach is 24/7 because I’m always meeting people and hearing their stories about sugar and cravings. Cravings is the common denominator! When I’m not working, I spend time with my husband, family and friends and trying new work-out studios in the city. I also love traveling and exploring new places.

Finally, Arianne, any last words for the kids?

That’s easy–take the Sweet Defeat challenge!
