No one is ever going to confuse a Rolls Royce for an economy car. Legendary for both their high levels of luxury and the price tags to back them up, Rolls Royce vehicles are clearly a cut above. The 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost continues that well-established tradition of flawless power, style, and performance.
The Soup that Eats Like a Meal
With a sticker price of more than $300,000, you might not believe it but the 2021 Ghost is an entry-level model Rolls. You’d never know it by looking at it, though – if the Ghost was a bowl of soup, it would be thicker than Boston clam chowder. The opulence of the interior cabin is simply mind-boggling, as it should be in a Rolls Royce; thick carpets, only the most finely grained leather upholstery, and real wood and metal accents turn driving the Ghost into a sartorial experience.
The rear seats are, of course, even more incredible than the front. Legroom is generous, seats feature massage options, and the rear has a dedicated entertainment system. The headliner even comes with an available integrated LED option to provide a star-speckled evening sky motif at night. The ambiance even spreads to the front, as the driver gains access to an illuminated dashboard inlay as well. Oh, and the Ghost is its own Wi-Fi hotspot as well. Because why not?
Power and Performance
All that ultra-luxury is great, but it becomes truly something outstanding when it’s combined with the other hallmark of Rolls Royce: peerless power and performance. The 2021 Ghost, while it’s been redesigned from the ground-up, has kept unsullied its massive power plant: a 563-hp 6.7-liter twin-turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 48-valve V-12 engine that is capable of doing 0-60 in just 4.6 seconds. All-wheel steering, a 50/50 weight distribution, and adaptive suspension that relies on a forward-facing camera that scans and analyzes the road ahead makes driving the 2021 Ghost similar to piloting your very own spaceship – a surprisingly agile one, at that.
All this performance does come with a cost, however, and that’s clearly fuel efficiency for this behemoth of an ultra-luxury sedan. Combined with its 5700-pound curb weight, that big monster of a V-12 guzzles gas like guests at a speakeasy; with city/highway mileage coming in at an abysmal 14/19 MPG respectively, this is not the kind of car you’ll be taking on cross-country tours. Then again, if you have the deep pockets to afford a Ghost in the first place, you’re not worried about gas prices, are you?
The 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost: What’s Not to Love?
Besides the fact that you can purchase a three-bedroom house for less than the cost of a 2021 Ghost, there’s not much to criticize about this Rolls. Yes, it has some pretty fuel efficiency, it’s so massive that your blind spots tend to be on the large side, and the massive, powerful vehicle could use a bit more robust braking system, but other than that it’s a dream vehicle to be sure.
And yes, keep in mind that the Ghost is the entry-level model for the 2021 Rolls Royce line. If that sounds inconceivable, you’re probably not the target demographic that Rolls has in mind! If you do have the money to burn on a 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost, however, this will leave you feeling like royalty to be sure.
