We scoured the shelves at Whole Foods Market to bring you our trying-to-be-green family’s tried and true natural, organic, vegan, eco-beauty products for summer skin, lips, hair and even underarms, beards and laundry.
This Hollywood-based family tries our best to make certain that our beauty products are as Earth- and as human-friendly as possible. To that end, we’ve found that Whole Foods Markets carries some of our favorite “eco” essentials. Here’s the list:
Alba Botanica Lip Balms: Alba Botanica makes some of the most luxuriant and affordable lip balms around–and they just happen to be all-natural, too. Plus, these brightly packaged lip wonders come in fun yet mild tropical flavors such as coconut cream, passion fruit nectar, pineapple quench, and contain a “very emollient sunscreen” with SPF25.
Dr. Bronner’s Hemp Lavender Pure Castile Soap: Dr. Bronner’s pure castile soap is a staple in every eco-warrior’s cleaning cabinet. This concentrated lavender-scented soap can be used for just about anything from making your own natural beauty and cleaning products to doing the dishes, hand-washing your summer delicates (like bathing suits) and much, much more.
Naturtint Hair Color: Sure, Naturtint isn’t as strong as the hair dyes you will find in the drugstore, but this all-natural dye is better for your health and the environment. Naturtint is usually a bit more expensive than drugstore brands, but Whole Foods seems to have sales on hair dye brands quite regularly. So stock up if you find a bargain.
TheraNeem Lotions & Teeth Products: The neem tree is a sacred tree in India for its many medicinal and beauty uses. It is most effective for dry skin, including sunburns, wrinkles and psoriasis. Neem is also terrific for your teeth, so consider switching to this powerful natural dentifrice. TheraNeem has a large lineup of neem-based products–from its hand lotion to skin lotion to neem toothpaste to an all-natural pest repellent for summer’s annoying stinging bugs and clinging ticks.
Every Man Jack Deodorants & Beauty Products for Guys and Teens: While my burly husband turned up his nose at Every Man Jack’s sandalwood-scented deodorant, our teenaged daughter loves the stuff. She’s also hooked on Every Man Jack’s shower gel and shaving lotions.
Badger Balms: We have major skin conditions in our family, so we’ve been using Badger’s many high quality, affordable balms for many years. Our family found this non-phalate super soap cleaned exceedingly well, had a fresh smell and left our clothes rather soft. Plus, we didn’t have to worry about allergies or cancerous chemicals.
