Kerry Washington has done it again! Scandal’s leading lady graced the small screen in HBO’s new politically based thriller Confirmation.
The film is based on the 90s scandal between University of Oklahoma professor Anita Hill and Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. In 1991, just before being sworn in as a Supreme Court Justice, Thomas was accused of sexually harassing Hill in a public Senate Judiciary hearing that shocked the nation. While critics argue that the film lacks accuracy, Kerry Washington delivered such an impressive, emotional performance that the film can still be highly appreciated either way.
Washington definitely slayed this role from start to finish, and for that we couldn’t be more proud. No matter what the historical facts may be, the film is successful at pointing out societal flaws and biases associated with the unfair shame victims receive when speaking up against sexual aggressors. Through her portrayal of Hill, Washington was the voice of countless women everywhere in a performance that should not go unnoticed. Kudos to you Miss Washington, for a job well done!
