How did you wind up in San Antonio?
Ari Temkin: I went to college in Kansas and started my radio career in Missouri. Eventually, my future wife and I would move to Austin, where I got a job hosting on 104.9 The Horn. I hosted there with Sean Adams for two years before getting a job at ESPN San Antonio as the assistant program director and show host. I’ve been in San Antonio since 2012.
Sports aside, what is there to do in San Antonio?
Eat great food, enjoy a very unique downtown city, beautiful parks, Sea World, Six Flags…
For someone thinking of visiting San Antonio, is there a hotel that you’d recommend?
Hotel Emma at the Pearl is nice. Charles Barkley seems to like it. The Pearl Brewery is a cool area. Also, the King William area, south of downtown, is a really fantastic area with cool bars and fantastic restaurants.
What about a specific dining spot or two?
San Antonio has some great cuisine. There’s a place called Cullum’s Attagirl that has some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Mi Tierra in Market Square is a classic. Of course, the King William area, or “Southtown” has too many fantastic restaurants to name, so if you are staying downtown, find someplace in King William.
