Auto enthusiasts around the world are getting ready to converge on the Los Angeles Convention Center, November 18-27, for the annual Los Angeles Auto Show. Every year, the hottest in auto design and technology is showcased in various auto shows across the country. Wondering what to expect when you get to the L.A. Auto Show this year? Here’s a visitor’s guide to make your visit smooth and hassle-free.
Leave the big bags at home. The 2016 LA Auto Show has implemented a new bag policy this year. All bags larger than 12″ x 15″ x 6″–that’s everything from shoulder bags to backpacks and camera bags to diaper bags, with or without wheels–will not be allowed into the convention center while the auto show is taking place. And as per usual:
- Wheelchairs are allowed but all bikes and baby strollers larger than 36″ x 52″ are not
- Only service pets are allowed
- Guests are permitted to carry up to one liter of water but no alcohol
- No glass containers are allowed inside the show, except baby food jars
Please do touch the merchandise. Need to get a feel for a particular car, not just look at it? About 100 of the latest models on site will be available for test drives around the convention center. Insider tip: Saturdays and Sundays are usually when the most vehicle makes and models are available for test drives.
Early-Bird special. Beat the crowd and get there early–7AM PST, two hours before the show opens to the public!–on Friday, November 18 and Friday, November 25. And get a complimentary cup of coffee.
Toyota teaser. November 18 is also Toyota Day. Toyota drivers of Los Angeles need only to show their Toyota key to gain entry into Gilbert Lindsay Plaza for an exclusive Buy-One-Get-One ticket offer.
Trend alert! The GO exhibit in the South Hall Atrium will showcase the latest technology in electric scooters, hoverboards, rocket skates, e-bikes, mobility apps, wearables and more. Come for a test ride!
Family fun. Tickets for children ages 6 to 12 are $5. Children under 6 get in free with a paying adult. There will be lots of video games, virtual reality demos and kids’ play zones to keep them happy and entertained.
Turkey Day treat. If you need to walk off some of that Thanksgiving meal, come to the LA Auto Show. That’s right, the show will be open from 9AM to 6PM PST on Thanksgiving Day–Thursday, November 24.
